USING THE TOOL
Find & replace text, explained.
- Paste the text and enter an exact search phrase.
- Enter replacement text, or leave it empty to remove matches.
- Replace all occurrences and check the match count and result.
Search is literal and does not use regular expressions. Matches are non-overlapping and may occur inside longer words. Replacement characters such as $& are inserted as ordinary text. Search and replacement fields accept up to 1,000 units each, and large expansions stop at 500,000 output units.
Can I use a regular expression?
No. Characters such as *, [, . and ? are searched literally. An empty search phrase is rejected to avoid inserting text between every character.
